Mentor to Service Coordinator   

Incumbent:  Mrs. Collins

  • through attitude and example, promote service in Troop 202 as an important part of the troop's identity
  • meet with the youth Service Coordinator to set appropriate goals for his term, consistent with his job description and the troop goals
  • identify adult and youth leaders who will manage individual service activities and events (the leaders are already in place for some recurring projects)
  • understand the troop's policy on accepting new troop-wide service projects
  • coach the youth Service Coordinator in recruiting participants for service events or delegating to the leaders of that activity
  • anticipate and plan ahead to ensure adequate manpower and supervision is available for recurrent troop-wide service events
  • ensure that Youth Protection guidelines are followed during execution of service projects
  • understand and communicate client needs (or encourage leaders of individual projects to do so) when service is performed for an outside organization
  • if needed, support the youth Service Coordinator to document projects and hours completed so that hours can be properly reported to the troop records and to the national BSA database
